BRASIL RAFT MONITOR IS GOLD AT SLALOM 2014

Not even the rain dampened the brightness of the competitions at Parque das Laranjeiras on the last day of the 2014 Brazilian Canoe Slalom Championship, quite the opposite: it only made the competition more exciting. With the participation of 99 boats, the athletes showed their skills and the competition was fierce, but the favorites prevailed and secured the title in their respective categories.

Três Coroas had two victorious representatives in the competition, and one of them is our monitor here at Brasil Raft: Marcelo Nereu secured first place in the C1 Male Junior, with a time of 107.33. We are very happy to have a champion in the segment on our team!

Gustavo Selbach Júnior was another three-year-old who also secured gold in the C1 Male Minor finishing in 114.23 on the 250 meter track.

In addition to these, the three Coroenses Cássio Petry, Vitor da Silva, Guilherme Mapelli, Ênio Winkler and Vitória Guimarães also stood out and climbed on the podium.

For Ettore Ivaldi, coach of the Permanent Canoe Slalom Team, the event fulfilled its role.

“It was a high level competition. Firstly for the organization and also for the athletes who did their part. I think we are on a good path to achieve good results at the Olympic Games in 2016.”

 

And for the organizers the result was positive. The event, in addition to being broadcast live by SPORTV, was also well organized and was an example for future competitions. Rogério Grade, mayor of Três Coroas, also believes that the championship met expectations.

“For us it is an honor to host an event of this size with athletes from all over the country. This shows our strength and tradition in this sport. In addition to being one of the best places to practice canoeing, our city is a great breeding ground for athletes”, he celebrated.

The championship is essential for defining the National Ranking that legitimizes the 2015 Bolsa Atleta, and our team celebrates the Tri-Coroenses victories and the success of the event.
